
The Dairy Association of Zambia, with financial support from the Royal Jersey Agriculture and Horticulture Society, has held a two-day stakeholder meeting at Chamba Valley Executive Lodge in Lusaka to develop a three-year strategic plan that will run from 2026 to 2028.
Amidst climate change challenges and the general high cost of production along the dairy value chain, this strategic reset will stimulate dairy sector growth, improve the sector competitiveness, attain sustainable financing and ensure focused delivery of services in the sector.
Dr Nathaniel Makoni, an accomplished dairy consultant and genetics expert, who has been involved in developing large scale dairy programes Southern, East African region and in many European states, facilitated the meeting which comprised dairy producers, processors, allied industries, non Govenmental organization and Senior officials from the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock.
When the strategic Plan is finally adopted, launched and implemented, the dairy sector will be a significant driver of the Zambian economy.
